Who Really Keeps the North Pole Running?

Hello from my desk at the North Pole! You probably hear a lot about Santa this time of year. He has the red suit, the sleigh, the famous laugh, and a team of reindeer who can fly. Very showy.

Hello from my desk at the North Pole!

You probably hear a lot about Santa this time of year. He has the red suit, the sleigh, the famous laugh, and a team of reindeer who can fly. Very showy.

But here is one of the North Pole’s biggest secrets: Christmas is a team effort.

Every day, elves are building, sorting, fixing, testing, organizing, answering mail, caring for reindeer, checking lists, wrapping presents, and solving problems nobody expected to have. Someone has to make sure the sleigh team knows the plan. Someone has to notice when the Toy Factory is running low on ribbon. Someone has to remember that hardworking elves need lunch.

That is where I come in.

I like to think of myself as the person who helps all the pieces fit together. I ask questions. I make plans. I change those plans when something unexpected happens. And, very importantly, I know when it is time to call in more helpers.

At the North Pole, asking for help is not a sign that you cannot handle something. It is how big things get done.

That is true at home, too. No one person has to create all the fun, remember every tradition, make every treat, decorate everything, and keep everyone happy. The best celebrations are built by people helping each other.

So if you visit the North Pole and see Santa soaring through the sky, remember there is an entire Village cheering behind him.

Including me.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, someone just reported a ribbon emergency in the wrapping room.
