The Toy Factory Night Shift
When the North Pole Village grows quiet and the lights in many windows switch off, Santa's Toy Factory does something surprising.
When the North Pole Village grows quiet and the lights in many windows switch off, Santa's Toy Factory does something surprising.
It keeps going.
Welcome to the Night Shift.
The Night Shift is smaller than the daytime crew, but its jobs are important.
They restock workstations.
They repair tools.
They organize supplies.
They finish careful projects that need extra time.
And they prepare the factory so the morning elves can start without searching for seventeen missing screwdrivers.
Night Shift Captain Nova Nightlight loves the quiet.
"During the day, this place sounds like a marching band inside a toolbox," she says. "At night, you can hear yourself think."
The Night Shift also has one unofficial responsibility: keeping an eye out for toys behaving suspiciously after midnight.
So far, the biggest offenders have been wind-up penguins.
They travel in groups.
Nobody knows why.
By sunrise, the factory is cleaned, stocked, and ready for another day.
Most visitors never see the Night Shift.
But the North Pole knows something important: some of the people who make everything work are doing their jobs when nobody is watching.
