Why Every Elf Has a Different Toy Factory Job

If Santa's Toy Factory hired only elves who were excellent at building toy trains, there would be a problem.

The North Pole would have an enormous number of trains.

And absolutely nobody would know where the wrapping paper was.

That is why the Toy Factory needs all kinds of elves.

Builders make toys.

Designers imagine them.

Inspectors notice tiny details.

Organizers keep track of thousands of parts.

Repair elves figure out what went wrong.

Testers try things again and again.

Supply elves somehow know exactly where to find one purple button in a warehouse containing approximately eleven billion other things.

Some elves work quickly.

Some work slowly and carefully.

Some love noisy rooms filled with people.

Others do their best work somewhere quiet.

Santa's Toy Factory does not need every elf to be good at the same thing.

It needs elves who are good at different things.

That is one reason Honorary Elves receive their own North Pole assignments.

There is more than one way to be helpful here.
